Position Overview The Language Center of L’Alliance New York is seeking passionate and qualified French as a Foreign Language (FLE) instructors with experience in private tutoring to join our dynamic teaching team. We are recruiting teachers for one-on-one classes with adult and child (ages 7-17) learners onsite at our Manhattan campus and offsite in students’ homes and offices. Private lessons offer students curriculums adapted to their personal learning objectives and progress, flexibility in scheduling, and closer connections with their teachers. While some students enroll short-term, many continue working with their teachers for months or even years. In addition to general French as a Foreign Language lessons, we offer customized private lessons in topics such as Business French, Legal French, French for Diplomacy, certificate exam preparation (DELF/DALF, TCF, TEF, AP French, etc.), literature, phonetics, and more, and we welcome applicants with specialties in any of these areas. Teaching assignments are in-person and scheduled during weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Most private lessons follow a consistent weekly schedule, but teachers must be able to accommodate some flexibility in scheduling. Key Responsibilities • Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered French lessons tailored to individual learners’ ages and proficiency levels. • Create a supportive dynamic that fosters trust, communication, and confidence in French. • Incorporate technology and authentic cultural materials into lessons to promote interactive and immersive learning. • Communicate directly with students or students’ families about scheduling or curriculum changes after enrollment. • Maintain consistent communication with the Language Center administrative team to ensure accurate recordkeeping. • Serve as an ambassador of francophone cultures and L’Alliance New York’s educational mission. Schedule & Availability • Weekdays: 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., with priority given to candidates with evening availability (5:45 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.) • Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. This is an hourly-paid, part-time position with variable schedules depending on student needs. Who You Are This role might be a great fit if: • You’re excited about the opportunity to work one-on-one with students. • You’re passionate about helping students of all ages grow in confidence and fluency. • You’re comfortable being flexible with students’ schedule changes. • You’re reliable, professional, and motivated by a sense of mission and cultural connection. • You have a genuine love for French language and francophone cultures — and for sharing that passion with others. Experience & Qualifications • Minimum 6 months of teaching experience with children, teens, and/or adults in the same institution. • Degree in Teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE) — Master FLE, DAEFLE, or equivalent; or a degree in Elementary Education. • Demonstrated ability to create dynamic and communicative learning environments. • Experience delivering one-on-one instruction. • Familiarity with digital teaching tools and technology-assisted learning. • Native-level fluency in French and minimum B1 level in English (CEFR). • Must hold valid U.S. work authorization ( L’Alliance New York does not sponsor visas for teaching positions ). Locations • Manhattan Campus: 22 East 60th Street, between Madison & Park Avenues • Offsite: Students’ homes and offices in Manhattan TO APPLY: Please submit a resume (in French), cover letter, and references.
