Senior Rust Software Engineer Embedded Systems
Location : Chennai, India
Experience : 7 - 10 Years
Role Overview :
Our Client is looking for a Senior Rust Software Engineer to develop software tools for USB Hubs, PCIe/USB Ethernet Controllers, and embedded devices. The role involves building reliable configuration, provisioning, monitoring, and diagnostic applications that interact closely with hardware and firmware.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design and develop configuration, provisioning, and diagnostic tools using Rust.
- Build reliable and scalable system utilities for embedded devices and hardware platforms.
- Develop GUI/CLI-based applications for device setup, monitoring, firmware management, and system configuration.
- Work closely with Firmware, Hardware, and Product Engineering teams on tool requirements and integration.
- Implement and work with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet and TCP/IP interfaces.
- Develop applications involving multithreading, concurrency and performance optimization.
- Debug and troubleshoot software, hardware and device communication issues.
- Develop automated testing and CI/CD workflows for configuration and diagnostic tools.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to software quality and secure coding practices.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, APIs and user guides.
Required Skills :
- 7 - 10 years of software development experience with exposure to embedded/hardware-integrated systems.
- Strong hands-on experience in Rust programming.
- Experience developing system utilities, configuration, monitoring or diagnostic tools.
- Strong understanding of hardwaresoftware interaction and device communication.
- Experience with Linux and/or Windows application development.
- Good knowledge of multithreading, concurrency and performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Git and collaborative software development.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of secure coding and software reliability.
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
Good to Have :
- Experience with USB / PCIe / Ethernet controllers.
- Experience in embedded software or device management applications.
- Exposure to firmware development, firmware update tools or hardware bring-up.
