Job Description

Salary: £68,000 - 78,000 per year Requirements: • We require 3 years of AWS experience. • We require 2 years of Infrastructure as Code experience. • We require 3 years of Platform Engineering experience. • We require experience in platform engineering, cloud engineering, or DevOps. • We require hands-on cloud operations experience across Azure and AWS. • We require strong networking and systems knowledge. • We require fluency with Docker Swarm and infrastructure as code. • We require the ability to build and maintain Infrastructure as Code in a production environment. • We require experience owning production workloads on Microsoft Azure, AWS, or both. • We require the ability to commute to or relocate to Richmond TW9 1DL before starting work. • We provide training on phoenix architecture, the blueprint methodology, and the OT environments the platform operates in. Responsibilities: • We operate our Azure and AWS cloud estate day to day, contributing to cloud optimisation, availability, and security. • We manage, maintain, and continuously improve the environments, with responsibility for performance, cost optimisation, and security posture. • We establish and maintain monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks. • We deploy the phoenix blueprint into pre-production and production environments. • We maintain and evolve deployment automation so releases are repeatable, auditable, and low-risk. • We stand up delivered phoenix software in target environments to meet deployment specifications. • We provide and maintain test environments and supporting infrastructure for test automation. • We build infrastructure-level test capabilities such as IaC validation, deployment smoke tests, and environment health checks. • We validate phoenix integration across different deployment configurations and blueprints. • We identify, document, and communicate integration failures, gaps, or deviations clearly and promptly. • We build and maintain deployment blueprints for different client applications, sectors, and hardware tiers. • We lead triage across IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, application code, networking, and the underlying OT environment. • We resolve issues directly or route them to the right owner with sufficient diagnostic detail. • We support URS validation by providing deployment evidence and platform-layer context. • We ensure platform-layer URS demands are met in deployment and clearly documented. • We write clear, accurate release notes for each platform release. • We maintain technical documentation for assurance, development, and client-facing colleagues. • We participate in development planning cycles and provide deployment, operations, and test input. • We feed issues back to the development team with sufficient detail to support resolution. • We support assurance by producing integration, deployment, and test evidence for release gates, operator engagement, and regulatory review. This Platform Engineer role sits within our Technology function and reports to the Head of Technology, with close support for the Head of Assurance. We operate across a hybrid estate with deltaflare-managed cloud infrastructure in Azure and AWS, and we provide training on phoenix architecture, the blueprint methodology, and the OT environments the platform serves.
