Senior Functional Analyst Role Overview In the context of a major business transformation program, we are looking for a senior functional analyst to reinforce the existing teams. As a senior analyst, you will join a department of approximately 90 people to support the hand-over, refactoring, or greenfield development of new business applications. The functional analyst we are looking for can handle all phases of a project and work within an Agile environment. Key Details • Location: Brussels, Belgium (Avenue Fonsny, 20 1060 Bruxelles), directly in front of South Station • Work Arrangement: Hybrid 5 days per week (Monday to Friday, 7h48 per day), with homeworking possible up to 3 days a week • Contract Duration: ASAP December 31, 2026 (5 months, full time); this is an initial contract for a long-term mission with potential for extension • Language Requirements: • Active knowledge (understanding, speaking, writing technical documentation, reading) of French or Dutch • Active knowledge of English (for writing documentation) • Good knowledge of the second national language (French/Dutch) is a plus Key Responsibilities & Deliverables • Developing strong, long-term relationships with stakeholders, including business and project stakeholders, team managers, and partners • Detailed identification, analysis, description, and validation of both existing business processes and new functional and non-functional user needs • Translating requirements into business solutions by creating functional analyses and application designs • Working together with technical team members to validate the functional design and translate it into technical specifications • End-to-end follow-up on the delivery of new functionalities and/or applications • Producing all documentation required throughout the various stages of projects • Working closely with business analysts and developers under the supervision of the project manager/coordinators to refine and validate proposed solutions • Working closely with project managers to report status, facilitate decisions, manage risks, and escalate as needed Deliverables: • Analysis documentation • Software requirements specifications (including required diagrams and analysis) • Data model • User stories • Test plan and cases Candidate Requirements (Knock-Out Criteria) • Belgian nationality, due to the nature of the activities involved • Active knowledge of French or Dutch (understanding, speaking, writing technical documentation, reading) • Active knowledge of English for documentation writing • Strong functional and business analysis skills, with the ability to assimilate complex material quickly • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies • Confirmed-level experience in Functional Analysis (UML), BPMN, and Test Analysis & Design Preferred Qualifications & Expertise • Good knowledge of the second national language (French/Dutch) is a plus • Mastery of technical language sufficient to carry out functional analyses (APIs, mappings, business model, batches, services, etc.), though the role itself does not require hands-on technical/development tasks • Familiarity with the broader application ecosystem, which relies on classic development technologies (J2EE, Java8, Oracle, Hibernate, JUnit, Selenium, Maven, GIT, JIRA) • Experience with Confluence, SQL, customer journey mapping, and user stories writing (junior level acceptable) Core Competencies • Excellent oral and written communication skills with both business and development teams • Solution- and customer-oriented mindset • Strong ability to abstract complex material • Willingness to adapt to changing business contexts regularly • Ability to integrate easily into an existing team and to supervise junior colleagues • Ability to serve as an interface with the client and help define their needs
