Job title: Mechanical Project Engineer – Data Centre Construction Location: Frankfurt, Germany Company: International Engineering and Construction Specialist Package: €75,000 to €95,000 + overseas package The Company This contractor has established itself as a major player in the delivery of technically complex projects across Europe, with a strong presence in the data centre, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and mission-critical sectors. With multiple live projects across mainland Europe and a growing pipeline of work in Germany, they continue to invest heavily in engineering talent, project delivery teams, and long-term career development. Their projects are known for high technical standards, strong safety performance, and collaborative programme delivery. The Frankfurt team is currently expanding due to continued growth within the data centre sector and is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of a large-scale mission-critical project. The Role: Mechanical Project Engineer Based in Frankfurt, you will work as part of the mechanical delivery team on a major data centre construction project, supporting all aspects of mechanical installation, commissioning preparation, quality control, and programme delivery. The Mechanical Project Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager, Design Team, Site Management Team, Commissioning Engineers, and specialist subcontractors to ensure mechanical systems are installed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications. This is a hands-on site-based role offering significant exposure to large-scale mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water, pipework, containment, plantrooms, and mission-critical infrastructure. Must Have Requirements • Must have a degree or trade background in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering • Proven experience required delivering mechanical packages on large construction projects • Experience working with a mechanical contractor, specialist M&E contractor, or main contractor is required • Strong understanding of mechanical services installation and commissioning processes • Eligible to work across Europe or willing to relocate to Frankfurt, Germany Preferred Experience • Data centre project experience preferred • Pharmaceutical, semiconductor, industrial, or mission-critical project experience beneficial • Knowledge of BIM, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or Procore advantageous • Experience managing subcontractor packages and technical coordination Nice to Have • Commissioning or CSA coordination exposure • Additional health and safety qualifications • German language skills beneficial but not essential • Previous experience working on overseas construction projects Key Responsibilities • Support the delivery of mechanical works in line with project programme requirements • Review drawings, specifications, technical submittals, and installation documentation • Coordinate mechanical subcontractors and specialist suppliers on site • Monitor installation quality and ensure compliance with project standards • Assist with commissioning preparation, testing, and system handover activities • Track progress against programme milestones and identify potential delay • Attend coordination meetings with project stakeholders and design teams • Manage RFIs and technical queries throughout the construction phase • Support health and safety compliance across all mechanical work areas • Maintain accurate records, reporting, and project documentation About You You will be a Mechanical Project Engineer with experience delivering building services or industrial mechanical installations on large construction projects. You understand the importance of programme delivery, quality assurance, technical compliance, and subcontractor coordination within a live site environment. You are organised, proactive, and comfortable working alongside multidisciplinary project teams while maintaining focus on safety, quality, and successful project outcomes. Experience within the data centre sector would be highly advantageous, although candidates from pharmaceutical, industrial, advanced manufacturing, or large commercial projects will also be considered.
