See yourself in our team As a Staff Software Engineer in the Digitisation & Enablement Crew, you’ll play a key role in shaping architecture, uplifting engineering standards, and mentoring engineers across the team. This is a senior, hands-on role. You’ll spend most of your time designing and building production systems, while influencing technical direction and contributing to broader technology strategy. You’ll operate with high leverage, working across squads to guide how systems are designed, built, and evolved in a modern engineering environment. What you’ll do • Design and build scalable microservices and APIs • Contribute to architecture for enterprise-scale platforms and systems • Improve engineering standards, code quality, and secure development practices • Support integration across internal and external platforms • Build and run what you ship – embedding observability, reliability, and resilience • Contribute to CI/CD, automation, and safe, frequent deployments • Mentor engineers and uplift capability across the team • Drive pragmatic, high-quality engineering decisions aligned to business outcomes We’re looking for engineers who • Are genuinely hands-on and comfortable owning complex systems end-to-end • Have strong backend engineering capability (APIs, microservices, distributed systems) • Have experience contributing to or shaping enterprise-scale architecture • Understand security, reliability, and performance at scale • Can connect technical decisions to business outcomes • Thrive in collaborative environments and challenge ideas constructively • Care deeply about simplicity, quality, and long-term maintainability • Actively mentor others and raise the engineering bar Technical capability We use a broad range of technologies. You don’t need all of them — strong fundamentals and depth matter most.
