Senior AI Engineer Location: Chicago, IL 60606 (Hybrid) Duration: 6 month C2H Interview Process: 1st Round Virtual with Internal Tech Director 2nd Round Virtual with client (1-hour Microsoft Teams video interview with a panel of System Architects and Senior Engineers) Note: • Must be local with DL copy • LinkedIn with location (before 2022) • Recent or recent second project must be at the current location Job Description Client is seeking an innovative, business-savvy Senior AI Engineer to join its core AI Acceleration Pod. This is a highly collaborative, fast-paced prototyping environment where the engineer will work at the intersection of advanced AI capabilities and real-world business strategy. The Senior AI Engineer will work closely with Underwriting business teams on a daily basis to understand workflows, gather requirements, identify business problems, and determine how AI can provide practical business value. The role involves rapidly designing and building AI prototypes, custom portals, RAG solutions, and multi-agent applications that can eventually be transitioned to the downstream Industrialization Team for enterprise production. The ideal candidate is not only technically strong but also a highly personable, polished, and business-facing engineer who can build relationships, communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders, bring enthusiasm to the team, and work effectively in a small, cross-functional environment. Key Requirements • 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, systems design, technical prototyping, or a related field. • 2+ years of hands-on AI experience , including AI-augmented applications, LLM solutions, RAG pipelines, or prompt-based systems. • Strong expertise in Prompt Engineering, RAG, embeddings, context-window management, and LLM application development . • Experience using Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot to accelerate software development; Claude Code is strongly preferred. • Strong software engineering and systems design fundamentals. • Python experience is highly valued, but the ability to be technology-agnostic and select the right tools/frameworks for the business problem is more important. • Experience with Gemini or other enterprise LLM platforms . • Ability to rapidly develop functional, adaptable prototypes without becoming overly tied to a specific technology stack. • Strong understanding of how to apply AI to real-world business problems , not just technical experimentation. • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills. • Must be highly personable, polished, collaborative, and comfortable engaging with business partners every day. • Strong ability to build relationships, understand customer needs, and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences. • Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional Agile Pod alongside Tech Leads, Architects, Engineers, and business
