Job Description
Our client has a vacancy for a Software Developer for a permanent role, based in East London, Eastern Cape.
Applicants are required to strictly meet the following criteria:
• Degree / Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related
• 3–5 years’ experience in web and/or mobile development using: ASP.NET (Web Forms or MVC), C#, Microsoft SQL Server / T-SQL, JavaScript / HTML5 / CSS / jQuery, Mobile frameworks such as Xamarin, MAUI, React Native, or Flutter
• Proficiency with Visual Studio, IIS, and API development
• Strong understanding of relational database design and data security principles
• Ability to debug, refactor, and maintain existing .NET and mobile applications
• Experience with GIS systems or IoT integrations
• Familiarity with Entity Framework, ADO.NET, and LINQ
• Exposure to data analytics, and visualization tools and strong facilitation skills
The s uccessful applicant would be responsible for, but not limited to:
• Maintain/enhance the companies-built ASP.NET (C#) web applications using Visual Studio and SQL
• Design, develop, and deploy mobile applications (native or hybrid) to support Smart City use cases such as field reporting, inspections, and citizen service requests
• Integrate web and mobile systems through secure RESTful APIs
• Write and optimize T-SQL stored procedures, views, and triggers for performance and scalability.
• Participate in the design of new Smart City modules (dashboards, workflow automation, IoT data ingestion)
• Implement and maintain secure authentication, role-based access, and data protection in line with Security best practices and POPIA
• Support cloud-readiness and hybrid deployment strategies (Azure / AWS)
• Produce comprehensive documentation, version control logs, and deployment notes
• Work collaboratively with business analysts, system administrators, and municipal stakeholders to translate functional needs into technical deliverables
