In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions for the GS-2210, Information Technology (IT) Management Series (Alternative A).
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving AND have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems.
Examples of specialized experience includes: Supervisory Leadership: Exercising first-level technical and administrative supervisory personnel management responsibilities (representing 25% or more of duty time), including planning work, setting priorities, evaluating performance, and identifying employee training needs.
IT & Cyber Program Management: Planning, organizing, and directing IT and cybersecurity activities to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and agency-directed requirements, including evaluating emerging technologies and optimizing existing system architectures.
Policy Coordination & Representation: Coordinating with program managers and leading multi-disciplined teams across organizations to align IT/cybersecurity policies, resolve complex integration issues, and represent the organization before senior leadership.
Strategic Technical Advising: Serving as a senior technical advisor to formulate lifecycle cost estimates, prepare budget justifications, provide technical oversight in the procurement of IT assets and services, and translate complex technical requirements to support business decisions.
