Location: This is an onsite role based at Nextiva’s Bengaluru office (Wilshire III by MFAR, 492, Hobli, RHB Colony, Mahadevapura, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560048). In-Office Expectation: This role is expected to work onsite four days per week, with the potential to increase to five days per week, as required by the business. Specific scheduling and flexibility will be guided by your leader to support both team collaboration and individual productivity. The Senior Engineer – Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is a hands-on individual contributor role for an experienced engineer with deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, automation, and production operations. This role is responsible for designing, building, operating, and continuously improving highly available cloud platforms that power Nextiva's critical communication services while driving reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence. As a strong IC, you will execute complex infrastructure initiatives end to end, contribute to sound architectural and operational decisions, and help raise the bar for platform reliability, observability, automation, and performance. You will work closely with Software Engineering, Product Engineering, Security, and Platform teams to build resilient cloud-native solutions that enable rapid and reliable software delivery. Beyond execution, you will contribute to technical direction through infrastructure architecture, operational best practices, automation, incident management, and collaboration with engineers across the organization. You will help prioritize work, unblock teams, and foster a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for someone who contributes through technical expertise, hands-on execution, collaboration, and ownership, with a growth path toward broader platform engineering or technical leadership. We are seeking a Senior Engineer – Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) / DevOps to help scale and modernize Nextiva's cloud infrastructure while ensuring our communication platform remains highly available, secure, resilient, and ready to support the next generation of AI-powered customer experiences. Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain highly available cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) • Build, manage, and optimize Kubernetes (GKE) environments supporting production workloads • Own infrastructure automation through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and modern DevOps practices • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, secure, and efficient software delivery • Monitor production environments, respond to incidents, troubleshoot complex issues, and improve system reliability • Design and enhance observability through monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance analysis • Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to improve deployment strategies, platform reliability, and operational efficiency • Troubleshoot issues across infrastructure and application layers, including debugging toward the code level and interpreting application code with AI-assisted engineering tools • Work effectively with application technologies such as Kafka and MongoDB, understanding how they are used within distributed application environments • Drive cloud security best practices across infrastructure and deployment pipelines • Build automation and self-service capabilities that improve developer productivity and reduce operational overhead • Evaluate and implement modern cloud-native technologies and platform improvements • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident improvements • Review infrastructure changes, collaborate with engineers, and promote Site Reliability Engineering and DevOps best practices across engineering teams Requirements - Basic Qualifications • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, or Platform Engineering • Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Google Compute Engine (GCE) • Expert-level experience with Kubernetes and containerized production environments (GKE preferred) • Strong hands-on experience with Docker and container orchestration technologies • Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, or similar tools • Strong scripting and automation experience using Python, Bash, Go, or similar languages • Hands-on software development experience at some point in the career, preferably Java, with the ability to read, understand, and interpret application code • Demonstrated recent hands-on engineering experience; this role is intended for an individual contributor who remains technically engaged rather than a primarily managerial profile • Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools • Strong Linux systems administration and production support experience • Experience with Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK • Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, Load Balancing, Distributed Systems) • Experience supporting highly available production environments • Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills Preferred Qualifications • Google Cloud Professional certification • Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD) • Experience with Argo CD • Experience with application technologies such as Kafka and MongoDB; Redis, RabbitMQ, and NGINX exposure is also valuable • Experience in SRE organizations • Experience with distributed systems and disaster recovery • Exposure to voice platforms or large-scale SaaS infrastructure AI & Modern Engineering Expectations • Leverage AI tools to improve infrastructure automation, incident investigation, application/code debugging, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational workflows • Demonstrate practical proficiency with AI engineering tools such as Claude, Codex, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools for investigation, scripting, automation, and code interpretation • Stay current with AI-assisted engineering practices and cloud technologies • Contribute to intelligent, automated infrastructure aligned with Nextiva's AI-powered platform vision Additional Qualities • Strong ownership and accountability • Self-motivated in fast-paced production environments • Ability to manage multiple priorities • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills • Attention to detail and commitment to reliability • Collaborative mentoring mindset • Passion for automation and continuous improvement Nextiva DNA (Core Competencies) Nextiva’s most successful team members share common traits and behaviors: • Drives Results : Action-oriented problem solvers who quickly bring clarity and simplicity to ambiguity, challenge the status quo, and lead meaningful change; celebrating wins to fuel momentum.
