Job Description

Our state government partner is seeking an experienced Graphic Designer to create impactful visual communications that connect communities across North Queensland. What’s in it for you • $69.21 per hour + 12% super • Contract until June 2027, with possible extensions of up to 2 x 12 months • Based in Cairns or Townsville, with flexible work arrangements available following probation About the role • Develop high-quality creative solutions across print, digital, video and online platforms • Support stakeholder and community engagement initiatives across the North Queensland Region • Provide expert design and visual communication advice to executives, stakeholders and departmental teams • Work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple creative projects and competing priorities Key responsibilities • Design and produce engaging publications, brochures, newsletters, displays, maps, presentations, social media content and digital and print advertising • Translate complex information into clear, accessible and visually compelling content • Provide advice on branding, visual assets and whole-of-government communication requirements • Manage creative workflows and project priorities to ensure quality deliverables are completed on time • Ensure all materials align with department branding, accessibility standards, budgets and communication objectives • Coordinate external suppliers, including printers, photographers, videographers, illustrators and animators • Produce and edit video content to support regional communication and engagement activities • Collaborate with design teams across the department to support consistent and coordinated creative outcomes About you • Demonstrated experience delivering contemporary, high-level creative work within a large corporate or government environment • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro, as well as Microsoft Office • Experience managing multiple complex design projects in a high-volume, fast-paced environment • Sound understanding of corporate branding, style guidelines and accessible communication, including WCAG requirements • Exceptional attention to detail, organisation and time management skills • Ideally, you will have five or more years’ experience in graphic, digital or visual design and a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience • Knowledge of Queensland Government processes and policies will be highly regarded For more information, please call Hyacinth Capilos on 07 3239 2500 or Apply Now to join a collaborative and creative team delivering meaningful communication that connects North Queensland communities. #scr-hyacinth-capilos Applicants new to DFP may be asked to provide additional information including work rights status via a survey link – if requested, we ask that you provide this information in order to expedite your application.
