Data Architect Microsoft Fabric Job Title: Data Architect Microsoft Fabric Location: Remote - Canada based candidate ( work in MST time zone ) Employment Type: Contract Architect, Data Engineering & Agentic Intelligence (Microsoft Fabric) Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Data Architect Microsoft Fabric to lead the design, architecture, and modernization of enterprise data and AI platforms using the Microsoft ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, SQL Server, Python, and Spark , along with proven experience designing modern data platforms and leading enterprise architecture initiatives. This role will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to define data strategies, design scalable architectures, establish governance frameworks, and lead implementation of modern data platforms. The candidate will also provide technical leadership, mentor delivery teams, participate in client-facing architecture discussions, and support pre-sales and solution development activities. Key Responsibilities • Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Power BI, and related technologies . • Define target-state data architectures, integration patterns, modernization strategies, and implementation roadmaps. • Design scalable Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, OneLake, and Medallion Architecture solutions. • Architect data ingestion, transformation, ETL/ELT pipelines, semantic models, security, governance, monitoring, and operational processes. • Lead architecture workshops, discovery sessions, platform assessments, and modernization initiatives with clients. • Translate business requirements and objectives into scalable technical architectures and implementation plans. • Provide architectural leadership throughout the project lifecycle and guide development and engineering teams. • Support migrations and modernization initiatives involving Azure Synapse, SQL Server, Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, and legacy data platforms into Microsoft Fabric. • Establish enterprise data governance, security, access management, data lineage, and compliance standards. • Design AI-ready data platforms supporting machine learning, Generative AI, Copilot, RAG, and Agentic AI use cases. • Create architecture diagrams, technical documentation, standards, and implementation guidelines. • Mentor architects, consultants, senior consultants, data engineers, and technical resources. • Participate in project estimation, scope definition, planning, solution development, proposals, and pre-sales activities. • Stay current with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Power BI, and emerging AI technologies. Required Qualifications • 12+ years of experience designing and delivering enterprise data and analytics solutions. • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric . • Expertise with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Power BI, and SQL Server . • Strong understanding of modern data architecture including Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Medallion Architecture, semantic models, and enterprise data integration . • Strong programming and data engineering skills using SQL, Python, and Spark/PySpark . • Experience designing scalable ETL/ELT frameworks and data pipelines . • Experience leading architecture discussions, solution design workshops, and technical strategy engagements. • Strong understanding of data governance, security, compliance, data lineage, and information management . • Experience leading technical teams and mentoring consultants and engineers. • Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and consulting skills. • Ability to translate business objectives into technical architecture and delivery roadmaps. • Experience with project planning, estimation, scope management, and delivery governance. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Preferred Qualifications • Extensive experience with Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, Data Factory, Data Engineering, Real-Time Intelligence, Spark, Notebooks, Semantic Models, and Deployment Pipelines . • Enterprise Power BI architecture, semantic modeling, governance, and self-service analytics experience. • Experience with Microsoft Purview or similar data governance platforms. • Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, and platform operationalization . • Experience developing enterprise data strategies, cloud migration strategies, and modernization roadmaps. • Experience building AI-ready platforms supporting Generative AI, RAG, Agentic AI, knowledge management, and intelligent automation . • Experience with Azure AI Foundry, Microsoft Foundry, Copilot Studio, Fabric Data Agents, Azure OpenAI , or similar AI technologies. • Experience with machine learning platforms, MLOps, feature engineering, predictive analytics, or data science initiatives. • Consulting or professional services experience supporting multiple clients. • Experience with pre-sales, proposals, Statements of Work (SOWs), estimation, and solution development. • Microsoft certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, Azure Data Engineer Associate, or Power BI Data Analyst Associate are a plus
