Job Description

Job Summary: The Business Analyst plays a critical role in providing comprehensive business analysis services across diverse business and technological domains. This position involves collaborating closely with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather, document, and analyze business requirements that inform effective I&IT solutions. The role also includes leading agile teams, managing product backlogs, facilitating workshops, and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and project methodologies to drive successful project outcomes and business improvements. Responsibilities: • Interact with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather, analyze, and document business needs and requirements. • Prepare and advise on business analysis policies, processes, best practices, and standards to ensure consistent practices. • Foster effective communication between teams, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of goals. • Manage and groom product backlog based on user needs and prioritization inputs. • Serve as a single point of contact for business analysis, agile leadership, and team coordination. • Prepare training materials and conduct sessions on project delivery methodologies. • Lead presentations and demonstrations of solution designs to consultation groups and stakeholders. • Create and review user flows and user stories, ensuring alignment with product vision and feature consistency. • Support QA, UAT, architecture, and technical activities to meet quality and enterprise standards. • Identify gaps and improvements to enhance process flows and customer experience journeys. • Plan and execute product lifecycle activities in collaboration with product owners, including requirement gathering, prioritization, and vision definition. • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes. • Monitor project progress, resolve issues, and report regularly to management and stakeholders. • Conduct discovery, cost-benefit analysis, feasibility studies, and prototyping. • Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact. • Collaborate with business and IT teams to deliver solutions efficiently. • Identify and manage dependencies with other teams to avoid project delays. • Lead and facilitate in-depth workshops for requirements elicitation, business process reengineering, and business modeling. • Develop business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and performance measures for business initiatives. • Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the business analysis team. • Oversee production support and configuration management activities. • Participate in requests for proposals focusing on client requirements and vendor evaluations. Required Skills & Certifications: • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Business Analyst with strong Agile and Waterfall project experience. • Project methodology certifications such as Agile Coach, Scrum Master, Lean Six Sigma Black/Green/Yellow Belt. • Expertise in developing functional and non-functional requirements, facilitating workshops, and business process reengineering. • Proficiency with MS Office tools including PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Azure DevOps / Jira. • Knowledge and experience with Agile I&IT methods and enterprise architecture frameworks. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. • Experience with business modeling techniques such as use case modeling, process mapping, data flow diagrams, and customer journey mapping. • Experience preparing business cases, cost-benefit analysis, feasibility studies, and performance measures. • Ability to lead and mentor teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and meet deadlines. Preferred Skills & Certifications: • Knowledge of Ontario Public Service decision-making and project implementation processes. • Experience with information retrieval packages and Information Management principles. • Familiarity with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations. • Experience with enterprise transformation, modernization, and service delivery projects. • Knowledge of software development lifecycle, database concepts, user interface design, change management, quality assurance, risk management, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning. • Experience with Agile coaching, mentoring teams, conflict resolution, and fostering team self-organization. Special Considerations: • This position requires onsite presence at the designated office location. • Must work standard business hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding lunch breaks. • Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high levels of customer service. • May require occasional support for production issues and configuration management. Scheduling: • Standard work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. • Full-time onsite role with no specified shift rotations.
