The opportunity: Associated Engineering, a proudly Canadian, Employee-owned Company is seeking an experienced and dedicated Mechanical or Civil Engineer to join our team in our Vancouver, Victoria, or Kelowna office. Our Water practice is growing and we’re looking for skilled, motivated and mechanical design-focused individuals to join our team. Reporting to the Urban Water Group Manager, your duties will include leading studies, assessments, design, and construction engineering services for water, storm, and sanitary pump stations as well as valve chambers, pressure control facilities, reservoirs and treatment facilities. You will also participate in mentorship and coaching of junior staff. This position has excellent opportunities for advancement. What we offer: • Flexible/hybrid working arrangements, depending on position • Market competitive salaries, with annual reviews • Salary range of: $93,000.00 - $115,000.00 • Matching company pension program, increasing over time • Comprehensive benefits including: • Health/dental/vision coverage • Fitness allowance • Employee and family assistance programs • Mental health supports • Paid time off so that you can recharge including: • Generous paid vacation • Paid office closure over December holiday break • Industry leading paid sick time • Maternity/paternity leave top up program • Ongoing support for your professional development and growth • Active Young Professional group • Formal mentoring programs • Paid professional development hours • Capacity building seminars • Engineer In Training programs • Opportunities to participate in social club activities and events • Company-wide social events • Regular lunch-and-learns • Community volunteer opportunities What you’ll do: • Coordinating the work of multidisciplined teams through the design development phase • Managing our cross-discipline quality management process • Taking ownership of overall project quality • Leading the design of mechanical systems, including: hydraulic analysis of piping and pumping systems, selection of equipment (valves, piping, pumps, tanks, screens, etc.), and design calculations • Lead the preparation of schematic drawings, layouts, and P&IDs with senior support and working with our CAD technicians • Helping to prepare and author studies and design reports, cost estimates, specifications and contract documents • Undertaking Engineer of Record field review of projects in construction Does this sound like you? • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution. • Registered as a Professional Engineer with EGBC, or eligible for registration. • 7+ years of progressive experience • Proven technical skills. • Strong written and oral communication, and coordination skills. • You have a valid BC driver's license • You are a committed and self-motivated team player • You have demonstrated ability to work independently and to undertake self-directed learning, • You have enthusiasm for building internal relationships throughout Associated Engineering’s network of engineering professionals • You have a passion for hydraulics, pumping and piping systems, and understand the importance of sustainability in design and energy efficiency resulting from system optimization. • Project management skills are an asset.
