Job Summary
The Principal Engineer will lead the design, development, optimization, and execution of Tubular Reactors (or) Plug Flow Reactor (PFR) and gas compressors used in chemical, petrochemical, fertilizer, and process industries. The role is responsible for establishing engineering standards, driving technology innovation, ensuring design excellence, and managing multidisciplinary engineering teams across process, mechanical, thermal, structural, and engineering functions.
The incumbent will serve as the technical authority for reactor design and support business growth through technology leadership, customer engagement, and successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
• Lead the conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering design of tubular reactor / Plug Flow Reactor systems and associated equipment.
• Develop and optimize reactor designs to improve performance, efficiency, reliability, and safety.
• Provide technical direction for process, mechanical, thermal, structural, and manufacturing engineering activities.
• Review and approve engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Drive innovation and implementation of advanced reactor technologies.
Engineering Management
• Build and lead a high-performing design engineering team.
• Establish engineering standards, design practices, and quality control procedures.
• Develop engineering resource plans and project execution strategies.
• Monitor project schedules, deliverables, budgets, and engineering productivity.
• Ensure lessons learned and best practices are incorporated into future projects.
Mechanical Design
• Oversee thermal design, pressure vessel design, heat transfer analysis, stress analysis, and reactor performance calculations.
• Ensure compliance with ASME, API, TEMA, PED, ISO, and other applicable standards.
• Review material selection based on process conditions, corrosion, temperature, and pressure requirements.
• Support scale-up activities from pilot to commercial plant applications.
Project Execution
• Work closely with project manager, manufacturing, procurement and R&D teams.
• Provide technical support during fabrication, testing, installation, and Scale -Up
• Resolve complex engineering and technical challenges throughout project life cycles.
• Participate in FMEA, HAZOP, risk assessments, and safety reviews.
Customer & Business Support
• Engage with customers to understand technical requirements and provide engineering solutions.
• Support proposal development, technical bid evaluations, and customer presentations.
• Act as the primary technical authority for tubular / Plug Flow reactor technology.
• Foster long-term customer relationships through technical excellence.
Continuous Improvement
• Drive digital engineering initiatives, simulation tools, and design automation.
• Promote R&D activities and technology development programs.
• Benchmark industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Improve engineering processes to reduce cost and lead time.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s degree/ Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience
• 12+ years of engineering experience in process equipment or reactor design
• Minimum 7+ years in leadership or engineering management roles.
• Extensive experience in Tubular reactors(or) Plug Flow Reactor (PFR) heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and process equipment design .
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
