Job Description
About the Role:
The incumbent will lead the financial strategy, governance, and risk management of an import - export firm with significant exposure to LC (Letter of Credit) operations, international banking, trade documentation, forex management, and working capital optimization. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in trade finance, LC operations, cash credit (CC), and global banking processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Strategy & Leadership:
- Develop and implement the company's long-term financial strategy aligned with business goals.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and detailed fund-flow planning.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making and business expansion.
2. Trade Finance & Banking Management:
- Oversee complete LC lifecycle: planning, issuance, amendments, acceptances, and closure.
- Manage working capital facilities: CC, PCFC, Buyers Credit, Suppliers Credit, BGs, and OD limits.
- Drive negotiations with banks for interest rates, charges, limits, and hedging arrangements.
- Maintain strong relationships with domestic and international banks.
3. Cash Flow, Working Capital & Treasury:
- Monitor daily cash flow for import payments, export collections, receivables, and duties.
- Optimize working capital through structured planning and control systems.
- Evaluate and manage foreign exchange exposure; execute hedging strategies.
- Ensure timely fund planning for shipments, customs duties, and operational expenses.
4. Financial Controls & Compliance:
- Implement robust internal controls for procurement, imports, payments, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with GST, RBI, FEMA, DGFT, Customs, and other regulatory bodies.
- Oversee statutory audit, internal audit, and tax filings.
- Maintain accurate costing models for imported goods, including landed cost calculations.
5. Risk Management:
- Identify risks related to suppliers, commodity cycles, forex volatility, and customer credit.
- Create proactive strategies for mitigation and business continuity.
- Manage insurance for cargo, stocks, liabilities, and business operations.
6. Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead the finance, accounts, and documentation teams with a focus on process improvements.
- Mentor team members and drive a culture of accuracy, transparency, and accountability.
- Implement ERP and technology-driven enhancements.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong expertise in LC operations, CC management, and trade finance banking.
- Deep knowledge of import/export documentation, duties, INCOTERMS, and logistics cycles.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- High integrity, discipline, and leadership capability.
Qualifications:
- CA / CMA / MBA (Finance) with 10-15 years of experience.
- Experience in import - export, petrochemicals, commodities, or trading sectors is preferred.
- Proven experience in managing treasury, banking relations, and LC/CC processes.
