Job Description

Our client is a well-established and growing public practice accounting firm based in Bankstown, providing taxation, accounting, and business advisory services to a diverse portfolio of individuals, SMEs, companies, trusts, partnerships and self-managed super funds (SMSFs). Due to continued growth, they are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join their collaborative team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant looking to develop their technical taxation skills while working closely with experienced accountants and business advisors. Key Responsibilities • Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs. • Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) and GST reconciliations. • Assist with tax planning, compliance and ATO reporting obligations. • Prepare working papers and year-end reconciliations. • Liaise with clients to obtain financial information and resolve accounting queries. • Assist with payroll tax, FBT and other statutory compliance requirements. • Respond to ATO correspondence and client enquiries. • Support senior accountants and managers with advisory engagements and business improvement projects. • Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with relevant accounting and taxation legislation. Skills & Experience • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance. • 1–4 years' experience in an Australian public practice accounting firm. • Sound understanding of Australian taxation legislation and accounting principles. • Experience preparing tax returns for various entity types. • Knowledge of GST, BAS and financial reporting requirements. • Experience using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, APS, HandiSoft, Class Super or similar. • Strong Microsoft Excel skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively within a team.
