Job Description

AI Lead Engineer Join a team that puts people at the center of everything. At TLNT, we believe that recruitment is more than just filling roles — it’s about connecting humans with humans. We’re a people-first organization partnering with top U.S. companies to help them grow by attracting exceptional talent, and we know that the right content can open the right doors. About our partner: Join a DTC performance marketing agency running paid media, lifecycle, and creative strategy for a portfolio of consumer brands — including well-known names in beauty and household. Alongside the agency, they're building an AI-powered growth operating system: a SaaS platform and network of client-facing AI agents that turn how a top-tier team actually works into software. About the role: The AI Engineer will own the technical product end-to-end — the platform, the agent infrastructure behind it, and the internal tooling the team runs on. This is a build-and-own role, not a ticket-taking one. You set architecture, own the roadmap alongside the CEO, ship production code, and keep the whole system healthy. You'll work closely with the CEO (strategy and priorities), the creative and lifecycle leads (who prototype and rate agent outputs), and existing technical partners. If you like the idea of being the technical center of gravity for a product that's early enough to shape and real enough to matter, this is that. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your career with a leading US-based company—fully remote. What You'll Do • Technical & product strategy • Architecture for the platform — frontend, backend, data pipelines, and AI features • Design and evolution of the AI agent infrastructure (client agents, shared skill libraries, knowledge systems) • Build-vs-buy calls on third-party tools, APIs, and platforms • Scalability and security architecture as we add clients and tiers • Technical input on positioning, feature prioritization, and competitive differentiation • Roadmap • Own and prioritize the product backlog with the CEO • Translate business requirements into specs, project plans, and sprints • Scope, estimate, sequence, and track delivery — and communicate status, blockers, and tradeoffs clearly • Drive down technical debt and architectural risk before it compounds • AI adoption • Train the internal team on AI tools, workflows, and best practices • Write the documentation and guides for our AI systems (platform, client agents, integrations) • Support client onboarding to AI-powered features • Find and automate the manual work that shouldn't be manual • Maintenance & operations • Triage and fix bugs with clear prioritization • Monitor uptime, performance, data integrity, and pipeline health across deployed services • Handle security patching, dependency upgrades, and incident response • Reasonable on-call for critical production issues What You Bring • 5+ years shipping software, with recent, hands-on experience building production LLM and agent systems (tool use, orchestration, and evaluation — not just prompt wrappers) • Full-stack range: comfortable across frontend, backend, and data pipelines • Real product ownership — you've held a roadmap, made the calls, and shipped • Strong architecture judgment; you can make a tradeoff (datastore, framework, build-vs-buy) and defend it • Excellent async communication and low ego; you thrive in a small, high-trust team where you're often the one who decides • Bias toward shipping, with the discipline to test in staging, version breaking changes, and not hardcode secrets • Nice to have • Background in DTC / ecommerce / marketing technology • Familiarity with our stack and tooling: TypeScript/React, Convex, modern LLM eval frameworks (e.g., Braintrust) • Experience building evaluation harnesses or learning loops for AI systems • Founding-engineer or early-stage startup experience First 90 days You'll come up to speed on the platform codebase and current roadmap, take ownership of the backlog and sprint cadence, and ship your first production improvements. By the end of the quarter, you should own the architecture direction, the delivery rhythm, and the operational health of the platform. Salary & Perks • Competitive Pay: We hire top talent and compensate accordingly. • This is a full-time, long-term engagement with room to grow • The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with TLNT. • 100% remote — work from wherever you do your best thinking • Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (+/- 1 hour accepted) - PST. • Additional perks. Ready to apply? We'd love to hear your story. The next step is a short application where you can share more about your background and upload your resume in English. Take your time — we read every response carefully.
