Job Description

A growing civil engineering consultancy in Austin is seeking a Civil Engineer to support the review, oversight, and coordination of land development projects across the region. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working closely with developers, municipalities, and utility districts throughout the development process, rather than performing traditional design work. Responsibilities • Oversee infrastructure components of residential, commercial, and mixed-use land development projects. • Provide guidance to developers on project requirements, permitting processes, bidding procedures, and construction standards. • Review civil construction plans and supporting project documentation for compliance with applicable regulations and development requirements. • Coordinate with Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs), municipalities, contractors, developers, and other project stakeholders. • Attend board, client, and public meetings, providing technical recommendations and project updates. • Conduct site visits to monitor project progress and ensure compliance with approved plans and standards. • Manage contract administration activities and support project delivery through construction. • Review utility service agreements, development agreements, and related documentation. • Prepare engineering reports, technical memorandums, and project correspondence. • Support regulatory compliance efforts and coordinate with public agencies throughout the development process. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. • Experience supporting land development, public infrastructure, or municipal projects. • Familiarity with site development processes, permitting, construction administration, and infrastructure review. • Experience working with Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs) is highly desirable. • Municipal public works or TCEQ-related experience is a plus. • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively with developers, municipalities, and contractors. What Makes This Role Different? This position offers the opportunity to stay closely involved in the land development process from concept through construction while focusing on project oversight, coordination, and client advisory services. Unlike traditional consulting engineering roles, this position does not involve producing design drawings, making it ideal for engineers who enjoy project management, development coordination, and working directly with clients and stakeholders. Compensation Competitive salary commensurate with experience, qualifications, and professional licensure.
