Job Description

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected. Position Overview AST SpaceMobile is looking to hire an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong full-stack development capability to support cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipeline management, automation, and containerization technologies. The candidate will be an integral part of the Integration and Automation Division, responsible for automation activities and internal tooling development across cross-functional teams like FSW, GSW, DSS, and Simulation. Key Responsibilities: • Operating System Administration: • Manage and maintain Windows Server (2016, 2019) and Windows 11 environments. • Support Linux-based systems, including Ubuntu 22.04 and RHEL (latest versions). • AWS Cloud Infrastructure: • Own and manage AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Load Balancers (ALB/NLB), VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch, and SNS. • Manage AWS ECS, ECR, EKS, and Lambda for containerized and orchestration environments. • Work with IAM, CloudFront, Systems Manager, Secrets Manager, KMS, GuardDuty, and CloudTrail. • Use Terraform and CloudFormation for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions, and work with cloud management platforms such as Scalr for workflow governance. • DevOps & CI/CD Pipeline: • Design, set up, and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and Azure DevOps. • Implement and maintain configuration management practices to support scalable deployments. • Automation & Scripting: • Automate infrastructure deployment using Terraform and CloudFormation in AWS. • Write and maintain automation scripts in Python, Bash, and PowerShell. • Monitoring & Infrastructure Management: • Monitor system and application performance using Grafana and CloudWatch. • Build and maintain alerts and dashboards for system health monitoring. • Containerization & Orchestration: • Work with Docker for containerization, including authoring Docker files and managing containerized environments. • Deploy and manage workloads on Kubernetes (EKS) for container orchestration. • Full-Stack Development: • Design and build internal tools and dashboards using HTML, CSS, and React JS on the front end. • Develop backend services and APIs in Python, integrating with PostgreSQL databases. • Apply AI-assisted / vibe coding practices to accelerate prototyping and development of internal tooling. Qualifications: • At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering role. • Strong experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, RDS, Load Balancers, VPC, Route 53, EKS, and ECS. • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell. • Solid experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as GitLab and Azure DevOps. • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and Scalr. • Hands-on full-stack development experience with HTML, CSS, React JS, and Python-based backends. • Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar relational databases. • Understanding of infrastructure monitoring tools such as Grafana. • Experience using both relational and non-relational databases. Education: BTech/MCA/MSc Experience: A minimum of 3 - 5 years Soft Skills: • Strong interpersonal skills, Proven ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential • Follows Agile process. Technology Stack: • Jira, Visual Studio, IDE. etc Physical Requirements • Ability to work in a standard office environment and use a computer for extended periods.
