Data Engineer Consultant (Fabric, Power BI)
Location: Perth
Summary
As a Fabric Data Engineer / Power BI Consultant at Avanade, you'll design and build scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT solutions, and modern analytics platforms using Microsoft Fabric. You will also develop interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models that enable data-driven decision-making. Working closely with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders, you'll deliver secure, high-quality data and insights across batch and near real-time use cases while continuously improving performance, reliability, and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
•
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data integration solutions using Microsoft Fabric
•
Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and store data from multiple sources
•
Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models, and data visualizations
•
Translate business requirements into meaningful analytics and reporting solutions
•
Work closely with data architects, business analysts, and stakeholders to deliver reliable data and reporting solutions
•
Implement data processing solutions across batch and near-real-time use cases
•
Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across data platforms and reporting solutions
•
Support cloud-based data platforms, data lakes, lakehouses, and data warehouses
•
Apply data security, privacy, Row-Level Security (RLS), and access control requirements across data and reporting solutions
•
Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline, data quality, and Power BI performance issues
•
Contribute to automation, monitoring, governance, and continuous improvement of data engineering and BI practices

Skills and Experience
•
Demonstrated experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or data-focused engineering roles
•
Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Data Factory, Data Warehouse, and analytics workloads
•
Hands-on expertise in Power BI development, including dashboards, reports, data modelling, DAX, and semantic models
•
Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and analytical data platforms
•
Strong experience with ETL/ELT development and data pipeline orchestration
•
Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and large-scale datasets
•
Experience with cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Synapse, or equivalent
•
Familiarity with dimensional modelling, Star Schema, and performance optimization techniques
•
Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) and Power BI governance best practices
•
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data and analytics solutions
•
Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and troubleshooting skills

This role is based in Perth, Western Australia.
•
Candidates currently based in Perth or willing to relocate to Perth are encouraged to apply.
