Spark Eighteen - Senior Database Administrator

We are looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) with 5+ years of experience managing and optimizing PostgreSQL databases in production environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in database migrations, cloud platforms (preferably GCP), performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and high-availability solutions. You will work closely with DevOps, engineering, and data teams to ensure secure, scalable, and reliable database operations while supporting ETL workflows, CI/CD processes, and data-driven initiatives. Requirements : - 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator with strong production-level expertise in PostgreSQL. - Proven success in database migrations, particularly on cloud platforms such as GCP. - Experienced in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving database issues, including performance bottlenecks, data inconsistencies, and connectivity challenges. - Skilled in monitoring and maintaining multiple database environments to ensure uptime, security, and data integrity. - Collaborated with DevOps teams to automate provisioning, CI/CD workflows, and monitoring. - Optimized database performance through indexing, query tuning, and configuration enhancements. - Led database migrations from on-premises environments to the cloud, including heterogeneous migrations such as Oracle/MySQL to PostgreSQL. - Implemented backup, recovery, and high availability strategies using tools such as Barman and EDB. - Maintained comprehensive documentation for configurations, procedures, and root cause analyses. - Enforced database security, access control policies, and compliance standards while supporting development teams with schema design, stored procedures, and database infrastructure recommendations. - Conducted incident response and delivered timely RCA reports with a customer-centric approach. - Built and maintained ETL and data movement workflows using Airflow, native PostgreSQL tools, and scripted pipelines to support migrations, replication, and reporting. - Partnered with data and analytics teams to ensure database schemas and pipelines supported downstream reporting requirements and monitored data pipeline health, including job failures, latency, and data freshness.
