General Manager - Design Development & Construction - Structures

Position: Design Development & Construction Structures Experience: 12-15 Years Location: Mumbai/Navi Mumbai About the Role: We are looking for an experienced Design Development & Construction Structures professional to lead structural design development and execution for large-scale real estate projects. The incumbent will work closely with architects, consultants, project management teams, and contractors to ensure structural designs are technically robust, cost-effective, compliant with statutory requirements, and executed as per quality, safety, and timeline commitments. Key Responsibilities: Structural Design & Development: - Lead structural design development from concept through detailed engineering and construction stages. - Review and validate structural drawings, calculations, BOQs, specifications, and design reports prepared by consultants. - Ensure structural systems are optimized for safety, functionality, constructability, and cost efficiency. - Coordinate with architects, MEP consultants, geotechnical consultants, and external structural consultants during design development. Construction & Execution: - Provide technical support during construction and resolve structural engineering issues at site. - Monitor structural works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards. - Review contractor methodologies, temporary works, and value engineering proposals. - Conduct regular site inspections and recommend corrective actions wherever required. Consultant & Stakeholder Management: - Manage structural design consultants throughout the project lifecycle. - Coordinate with internal cross-functional teams including Projects, Procurement, Contracts, Planning, and Quality. - Participate in design review meetings and provide technical recommendations. - Ensure timely closure of RFIs, technical queries, and design revisions. Value Engineering: - Identify opportunities for value engineering without compromising safety and quality. - Recommend alternate construction methodologies, materials, and structural systems to improve project efficiency. - Optimize quantities and structural costs through engineering solutions. Quality & Compliance: - Ensure adherence to Indian Standards, NBC, seismic codes, and relevant statutory regulations. - Review quality assurance procedures for structural works. - Support audits and technical compliance reviews. Planning & Documentation: - Monitor structural design deliverables against project schedules. - Maintain engineering documentation, approvals, and design change records. - Track consultant deliverables and ensure timely submissions. Desired Candidate Profile: - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred). - 12-15 years of experience in structural design development and construction management for large commercial, mixed-use, residential, hospitality, or retail projects. - Strong understanding of RCC and structural steel design principles. - Experience coordinating with leading structural consultants and multidisciplinary design teams. - Knowledge of construction methodologies, value engineering, and project execution. - Familiarity with IS Codes, NBC, seismic design standards, and construction quality practices. - Proficiency in AutoCAD and structural design coordination tools; exposure to BIM/Revit is an added advantage. - Strong analytical, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Industry Background: - Candidates from leading real estate developers, EPC organizations, construction companies, design consulting firms, or infrastructure developers will be preferred.
