Job Description

We are hiring for one of Indias fastest-growing premium kids essentials brands Designed for Kids. Approved by Families. We build bold, design-led products across lunchboxes, bottles, bags and tableware: products kids love and parents trust, each one engineered around child-first safety and design. About the Role: The Demand Planner is the forecasting brain inside the category team. You translate sales trends, seasonality and launch plans into a clear, SKU-level view of what well sell so the category always has the right products, in the right quantity, at the right time, without locking cash into slow movers. Sitting under the Category Manager, youll build and own the demand forecast for the category, set inventory and replenishment plans with sourcing and supply, flag stock-out and overstock risks early, and bring the numbers to category and S&OP reviews. Its a hands-on, data-first role for someone who thinks in numbers and turns messy inputs into confident calls. What Youll Own: Demand Forecasting: - Build and maintain the demand forecast by SKU and channel using sales history, trends, seasonality and launch plans. - Continuously improve forecast accuracy and keep bias in check, updating as demand shifts. - Translate the category roadmap and marketing calendar into a forward demand view. Inventory & Replenishment Planning: - Set and tune inventory norms safety stock, reorder points and target cover for each SKU and channel. - Plan replenishment and feed clear buy signals to Sourcing, and allocate stock across D2C and marketplaces. - Protect availability: monitor in-stock rates, catch stock-out risks early, and control excess & obsolete (E&O) stock. Category & Launch Planning: - Model initial buys and ramp plans for new launches with Category, Sourcing and Marketing. - Support the category P&L with volume, mix and inventory inputs, and pressure-test plans against capacity and cash. - Bring the demand view to monthly category and S&OP reviews. Analytics & Reporting: - Build and maintain clean dashboards and reports demand, in-stock %, forecast accuracy, turns and E&O. - Turn data into clear recommendations on what to buy, hold and push. What Were Looking For: - 2-5 years in demand / supply planning, inventory planning, category planning or business / data analytics, ideally in retail, D2C, e-commerce, FMCG or consumer products. - Strong analytical and numerical ability you think in data and turn large, messy datasets into clear recommendations. - Solid grasp of forecasting, safety stock, reorder points, inventory turns and E&O. - Advanced Excel / Google Sheets (modelling, pivots, lookups); SQL is a strong plus for pulling your own data. - Sharp attention to detail and the discipline to manage many SKUs accurately. - Comfortable partnering with category, sourcing, marketing and ops, and presenting numbers clearly. - Bonus: BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker), exposure to planning / ERP systems, and multi-channel inventory across D2C and marketplaces.
