SQL Server Database Administrator

Role : MS SQL DBA CONSULTANT Experience: 6 - 8 YEARS. Location: MUMBAI. CTC TO BE OFFERED: Mention Your Current & Expected CTC. Notice Period: IMMEDIATE. Job Description: - Provide database administration service along with Team Lead. - Coordination with Global customers. - Following standard team processes and defines new ones with corrections. - The individuals will be expected to be fully-functional DBAs who can perform traditional DBA activities independently and guide team members too. - Able to provide escalation support whenever required. - From an operational perspective, responsibilities include troubleshooting problems, working maintenance windows and providing 24x7 on-call supports on a rotational basis. - Database automation for MSSQL using Ansible. - Pre-installation Tasks. - Installing SQL Server and Patch Mgmt. - Installing & Maintaining DB Tools. - Uninstallation. - Database Upgrade. - Database Migration. - Database Patch Installation. - Physical Database Design and Implementation. - Database Setup in 32 and 64 architecture. - Database Clean up / Removal. - DB Cloning. - Design Database, RAID configuration & Capacity Planning for Large Databases. - Setup and implement Cluster Setup in multiple nodes environment. - Implement High Availability configuration like replication and log shipping. - Start up and shutdown of Database instances. - Maintaining Database replication / standby / clusters. - Job scheduling. - Verify all Instances and dependent services are running. - Look for any new error log entries. - Session / Process Monitoring. - Query or Transaction monitoring. - Lock and Deadlock monitoring. - Activity / Transaction Log monitoring. - Job monitoring and Purging Job history. - Replication / Log shipping monitoring. - Monitor Space usage /growth of Database objects. - Verify free space in filegroups / databases. - Monitor transaction log growth and truncate schedule. - Reorganization of DB to remove fragmentation. - Update Stats for hot objects. - Purging of DB logs and trace files. - Schedule maintenance plans for maintenance like DBCC REINDEX / INDEX DEFRAG. - Creation and schedule maintenance plans and jobs for update stats, defragmentation, checking database integrity. - Verify that Server has enough resources for acceptable performance. - Periodic Report Generation on Database Health. - Identify bad growth projections. - Identify space-bound objects. - Review contention for CPU, memory, network, and disk resources. - Generating statistics. - Look for objects that break rules. - Ensure that all indexes use an index tablespace. - Ensure that all tables have unique primary keys. - Look for harmful growth rates. - Examine tuning opportunities. - Look for I/O Contention. - Review fragmentation by investigating row chaining and other areas of fragmentation. - Database Objects Creation / Review. - Capture Performance Statistics of Instance like IO, Waits, Paging, Buffer Hit Ratio, Full Scans etc. - Capture Performance Statistics using performance monitors. - User / Schema Creation. - User Management. - Roles and Privileges Management. - Look for security policy violations. - Privileges & Access controls on Database. - Verify that the database backup was successful. - Backup execution and monitoring. - Define Backup policy and retention policy for complete/differential/transaction backup. - Conduct Backup, restoration drills for backup verification in different scenarios. - Database Connectivity issues. - Slow response. - Operations timed out. - Dead locks. - Database Hangs. - Database incident and error resolution. - Transaction Log Backup Stuck for Space. - Database incident and error resolution. - Vendor Management. - System Performance Monitoring. - Maintaining Environment details and change management. - Windows Scripting for automations of DB related work. - SSIS and SSRS. - Implement ITIL processes & Maintain Transition Management Docket. - Adherence to Change Management Process. - Presales knowledge / experience is added advantage. - Implement ITIL processes & Create Transition Management Dockets. - Presales knowledge / experience is added advantage. Qualification: - As per the Project Requirement. EXPECTED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE (L1 / L2 / L3): L3. - At least SQL DBA experience of 6+ years is required. - Thorough Knowledge of Windows Operating System, Networks and Active Directory. - Knowledge of creating and maintaining standby / replication setup. - Strong in SQL fundamentals. - Knowledge of using Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzed for basic administration. - Knowledge of configuring and setting up maintenance activities for DB. - Knowledge of SQL statements tuning and DB Tuning. - Knowledge on DB structures (filegroups, Indexes clustered /non clustered/fillfactor). - Knowledge on Memory structures (configurable parameters). - Knowledge of complete /differential / transactional backups and their recovery scenarios. - Knowledge on High Availability configuration like replication and log shipping, cluster setup. - Knowledge of DTS and bcp and other data load tools across same and different RDBMS. - Knowledge on database design and storage recommendation and NTFS file systems & capacity planning. - Knowledge in making scripts for automations, writing procedures and functions. - Knowledge of ITIL processes & Transition Management. - Excellent communication Skills. - Prior experience in a 24x7 environment desired. - Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. - Provide on-call support as and when required. - Ability to handle pressure. Additional Qualification / Skills: - Team Leader. - MCSE MSSQL Certification is mandatory. - Technically sound knowledge on Clustering, Log Shipping, Mirroring, Always on. - In depth Knowledge on SQL server 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022 Versions. - Cloud, Azure, AWS. - Database automation for MSSQL using Ansible.
