Job Description

We are an applied AI lab building end-to-end software agents. Software is how the modern world runs—but there's not enough of it, and too much of what exists isn't good enough. Banks and governments still run COBOL from the 1970s.

Budgets go to technical debt and maintenance instead of the features customers actually want. The bottleneck has always been the same: engineering talent is scarce and expensive, and budgets only stretch so far.

AI agents make it possible to build more software, faster, at higher quality—and Cognition is at the center of that shift. We built Devin, the first AI software engineer, and we're working with some of the world's largest enterprises to fundamentally expand what their engineering organizations can deliver.

We went from $1M to mid-nine-figures in revenue in a year, and are backed by some of the world’s top investors, including Founders Fund, General Catalyst, Lux Capital, and 8VC. The Role You’ll lead our AI analysis work for global CIOs.

Your job is to research the AI landscape — models, products, economic and geopolitical trends — and turn that into crisp, evidence-backed content that helps business leaders understand what's changing and what to do about it. You'll be the person behind the arguments our execs deliver at C-level gatherings and meetings.

You should have exceptional analytical ability and be a strong writer. You will synthesize technical, business, and political complexity into narratives that convince execs to act.

You might be the type of person who would have joined an equity research firm in the 80s — but you live in the 2020s and you're obsessed with AI instead.

What you will do: Research and monitor the AI landscape — model capabilities, competitor products, economic and geopolitical shifts — and distill it into intelligence our teams can act on.

Build frameworks that help CIOs understand AI software engineering capabilities, how Cognition is differentiated from competitors, and the ROI of adopting Devin. Write
