Job Summary Support primary school children in a student care environment by guiding homework, managing routines, encouraging positive behaviour, and communicating with parents to foster a safe and engaging learning space. Key Responsibilities Guide primary school children in completing daily homework, spelling practice, assessment work, and academic tasks to support their learning progress Manage classroom behaviour by maintaining order, setting clear expectations, and encouraging positive conduct among students Observe children’s learning, behaviour, emotions, and social interactions to provide positive encouragement aligned with the CAPOR Framework Support children with different learning needs, behaviour patterns, and levels of independence through tailored engagement and supervision Facilitate simple learning activities, group activities, and daily centre routines to create an engaging and structured environment Communicate routine updates effectively to parents, guardians, co-workers, and supervisors to ensure consistent care and information sharing Apply basic knowledge of child development, child safety, supervision, and duty of care to maintain a safe and supportive student care setting Required competencies and certifications Minimum Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification Preferred competencies and qualifications Certifications or short courses aligned with SkillsFuture frameworks, such as student development, child safety, classroom management, or positive behaviour support Experience supervising or engaging primary school children Experience communicating with parents or guardians on routine matters Exposure to homework
