How to Write Bullet Points That Get You Hired
The Achievement Formula
The most powerful resume bullet points follow one formula: Action Verb + Task + Result (with numbers). This transforms vague responsibilities into compelling evidence of your value.
Weak vs Strong Examples
Weak: "Responsible for managing social media accounts"
Strong: "Grew Instagram following from 5K to 45K in 8 months through a data-driven content strategy, generating 200+ qualified leads per month"
Weak: "Helped with customer service"
Strong: "Resolved 95% of customer escalations within 2 hours, improving CSAT scores from 3.2 to 4.7 and reducing churn by 18%"
Power Action Verbs by Category
Leadership: Spearheaded, Championed, Orchestrated, Pioneered
Achievement: Delivered, Exceeded, Outperformed, Surpassed
Efficiency: Streamlined, Automated, Consolidated, Optimized
Revenue: Generated, Captured, Accelerated, Maximized
The Numbers Rule
Every bullet point should have at least one number. If you can't quantify the result, quantify the scope: team size, budget managed, users impacted, or timeframe.
