Senior Software Engineer, AI Enablement

About the role You will serve as a technical lead to integrate artificial intelligence into the digital infrastructure of the People's Association. This role focuses on building secure environments, establishing AI guardrails, and guiding product teams through the adoption of new technologies to improve resident interactions. Key facts • Location: Singapore • Engagement: 2-year fixed term contract • Team: People's Association (PA) cluster What you'll do • Establish the technical foundation for AI by deploying development tools and connecting to government platforms like MAESTRO and Platform AI. • Create secured sandbox environments where teams can prototype and test AI capabilities. • Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations of emerging AI models and platforms. • Ensure all AI initiatives follow government security, data, and governance policies. • Consult with stakeholders on system architecture, integration, and responsible AI implementation. • Develop proofs‑of‑concept to validate use cases and reduce project risks. • Guide and mentor engineering staff through code reviews and design oversight. • Partner with product managers and designers to build citizen‑focused digital products. Requirements • Bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline. • Minimum 8 years of professional software engineering experience. • At least 3 years in a leadership role as a Tech Lead or equivalent. • Proficiency in full-stack development using React and Node.js. • Experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, and agentic workflows. • Hands‑on knowledge of AI guardrails and responsible AI evaluation. • Expertise in AWS services including Fargate ECS, Lambda, S3, Aurora, and RDS. • Strong background in containerization with Docker, API gateway design, authentication, and system integration. • Database management skills in MySQL and PostgreSQL. • Understanding of cloud computing, data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns. Nice to have • Experience with Singapore Whole-of-Government systems, compliance frameworks, IM8, and GCC. • Familiarity with government AI platforms such as MAESTRO or Platform AI. • Background in business continuity and disaster recovery planning. • Ability to manage senior stakeholders and lead external engagements.
