Senior Software Engineer, Skills & Workforce Development

About the role You will design and build digital platforms that support lifelong learning and career development for Singaporeans. This role involves leading technical strategy and architectural decisions to ensure the delivery of high-impact public sector software. Key facts • Location: Singapore • Engagement: Full-time • Team: Skills & Workforce Development (SWDA) What you'll do • Collaborate with product and UX teams to define product strategy and long-term technical roadmaps. • Execute engineering strategies that align with organizational goals. • Work with stakeholders to prioritize product delivery and ensure efficient value realization. • Detect and mitigate project risks while identifying opportunities for security improvements. • Promote engineering best practices to improve team output and effectiveness. • Provide hands-on technical leadership, including design reviews and architectural oversight. • Maintain high standards for code quality, security, testing, and operational performance. Requirements • Minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience. • Proven ability to manage complex system design and modern architectural patterns. • Experience delivering high-availability systems and managing the integration of legacy and new infrastructure. • Proficiency in cloud-native systems, containerization using Docker and Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code via Terraform. • Expertise in designing event-driven architectures and maintaining data consistency. • Knowledge of system resilience techniques such as observability, rate limiting, and failure handling. • Strong focus on security-by-design and rigorous engineering quality. Nice to have • Experience with modern full-stack development. • Familiarity with NextJs or React for front-end tasks. • Background in Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript for back-end development.
