Senior Software Engineer, Waste Management at GovTech. About the role You will join the National Environment Agency team to develop and maintain software solutions for waste management operations. This role requires a hands-on engineer to manage the full development lifecycle while assessing and improving existing system architectures. Key facts • Location: Singapore • Engagement: Full-time • Team: National Environment Agency (NEA) What you'll do • Design and build end-to-end features, including backend logic, APIs, and frontend interfaces. • Create new software capabilities from the ground up. • Analyze existing codebases and architectures to provide recommendations on system evolution and technical trade-offs. • Develop integration layers between waste management systems, modern applications, and data platforms. • Manage deployment, monitoring, and CI/CD processes within the Microsoft Azure Government Commercial Cloud (GCC). • Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate requirements into technical solutions. Requirements • 3 to 6 years of professional software engineering experience, though exceptional candidates outside this range will be considered. • Proficiency in full stack development, specifically with NodeJS or Golang for backends and React or similar frameworks for frontends. • Demonstrated ability to own systems from initial concept through production. • Capability to write production-grade code independently. • Experience working with cloud environments and DevOps practices. • Ability to navigate and improve legacy systems. Nice to have • Background in modernizing monolithic or legacy software. • Experience managing multiple products or complex system integrations. • Prior work within government or highly regulated environments, particularly with GCC. • Knowledge of data integration patterns. • Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
