Description WSP is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and delivery-oriented candidate for a role within the Environment Business Line as a GIS Team Leader with a profound interest in GIS technologies and updates. As the GIS Team Leader you will work with a multi-disciplinary team of technical staff in GIS, AutoCAD and web development/full stack development to create a team culture, act as liaison to the Canadian team by contributing to the growth of the GCC services within the Environment Business Line and ensure timely and quality delivery of projects. As the GIS Technician, you will work within the GAM, GADI and CDD teams to assist with data management, mapping activities, and modelling activities related to environmental investigations, rehabilitation, and regeneration projects for private and public clients. Mapping activities would be based on input and requests from the Ecology team in Ontario, Canada. Responsibilities also include working with other GCC team members to ensure Quality Assurance/Quality control in both communication with the larger Ecology team, and work products being delivered. All deliverables produced shall comply with WSP standards and procedures. Responsibilities The GIS Team Lead role would involve: • Build and maintain internal client relationships with the Canadian team to ensure ease of communication and work quality. • You will liaise with multiple stakeholders from different regions and ensure the pipeline of works. • You will collaborate with other GCC regions for best practice sharing and cross-collabrations • You'll act as a leader/mentor to the GCC Earth & Environment team to ensure the communication and quality of work output are up to WSP standards. • You will complete Quality Control/Quality Assurance checks to ensure work quality and output are up to expected Quality Standards. • Support the sustainability strategy for WSP. Contribute to the technical capabilities of the Environmental team through provision of training. • This is a techno-managerial role, which requires to support on the projects or the bid preparations as required. The GIS portion of role would involve: • Use GIS and spatial analysis tools to build and maintain geospatial databases including digitising, data conversion, feature attribution, and editing of GIS layers. • Capture required topographic layers from imagery and other sources. • Production of maps and figures to be used in reports and studies, in compliance with WSP quality management system (QMS). • Proactively identify improvements to enhance the company’s GIS service to clients. • Attend to team and project needs as required, and respond within agreed timeframes. • Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to GAM and GADI teams. Qualifications Key Competencies / Skills / Qualifications • A minimum of 7 years directing staff, providing QA/QC, contributing to growth of a team • A minimum of 15+ years of experience in providing GIS support for large multidisciplinary projects. • Demonstrated proficiency of GIS tools such as ArcGIS Pro , AGOL, ArcGIS mobile field applications, ERDAS[MM1] [CE2] , and ETL tools (e.g. FME) • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. • Proven ability to manage a team of GIS professionals. • Attention to detail and Proven Ability to Review others work for QA/QC. • Ability to work in a very dynamic and demanding work environment. • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight. Desired Skills • CAD experience desirable. • Basic knowledge of coding (Python, Arcade, R) is desirable. • International experience is preferred. • Bilingualism in English and French is a strong differentiator Qualifications • Degree in Geography, GIS Database, Geology, Environmental Science or other related field, or equivalent experience.
