Job Description
About the company
Intertek is a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide. Our network of more than 1,000 laboratories and offices in more than 100 countries, delivers innovative and bespoke Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification solutions for our customers' operations and supply chains. Intertek Total Quality Assurance expertise, delivered consistently with precision, pace and passion, enabling our customers to power ahead safely.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Development professional to lead the growth of our Marine and Technical Services Division. This is a senior leadership role for someone who understands the marine industry from the inside and can turn that knowledge into new business, stronger client relationships and better services.
This is not a pure sales role. We are looking for a leader with vision, someone who can see where the industry is heading, identify gaps in current service provision, and design and shape the offerings that close those gaps. You will work closely with our operations team and executive leadership, contribute to strategy and service development, and play a hands-on part in the day-to-day running of the business, including stepping in on complex or challenging situations to help resolve them.
Key Responsibilities
•
Lead business development for the Marine and Technical Services Division across Australia and internationally, building and maintaining relationships with clients at a senior level.
•
Engage directly with clients to understand their needs and position our services effectively.
•
Identify gaps and opportunities in the market, and develop new service offerings and improvements to existing ones.
•
Contribute to the overall development of the business and its services alongside the executive team.
•
Work closely with the operations department and support the resolution of issues and challenges across the business as they arise.
•
Represent the business at industry events, conferences and client meetings, delivering high quality presentations and proposals.
•
Provide market intelligence and strategic input to executive leadership.
•
Travel nationally and internationally as required to develop the business.
About You
•
A minimum of five years of experience in the maritime industry in a senior business development, commercial or leadership role.
•
Maritime qualifications such as a Master Mariner or Chief Engineer certificate of competency, a degree in maritime studies, or an MBA, are strongly preferred. We will also consider candidates who bring strong senior maritime industry experience.
•
An established network across the marine sector and the credibility to engage at a senior level.
•
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong presentation skills are essential to this role.
•
Commercial acumen and a track record of winning and growing business.
•
The vision to identify where the industry is falling short and the initiative to turn ideas into real services.
•
Confidence with modern technology and digital tools.
•
Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally.
•
The right to work in Australia and a current driver's licence.
Why Intertek
• A senior leadership role with genuine scope to shape a growing business.
• National and international reach.
• A remuneration package that reflects the seniority of the role.
• The backing of a global Total Quality Assurance leader.
