Job Description

Shift- 2:30pm-10:30pm Monday-Friday Must train on 1st shift Summary The Transportation Specialist creates, coordinates, and completes shipments of goods between the company and vendor or customers. This position will manage shipments and the transport of goods. Role and Responsibilities • Main point of contact for shipping • Verifies freight loads against Purchase Orders and Sale Orders • Schedules and tracks outbound freight. • Ensures all carriers meet tolerances and specification requirements. • Maintains accurate and up to date profiles on vendor routing guides. • Accurately report vendor managed inventory receipts into SAP while identifying and communicating any issues or errors to appropriate parties. • Extract key data from load plan and enter into IFS and SAP while ensuring accuracy between the two systems • Coordinate shipments to ensure on-time deliveries of goods to customers. • Critical, time sensitive decision making. • Operate forklift and load/unload trucks as necessary. • Prepares Packing Lists and assigns loads to turret operators. • Verify all staged loads. • Coordinate with QA for approvals of goods to ship • Create all packing lists and BOL paperwork verifying accurate quantities. • Communicate any/all changes with Customer Supply Chain Manager • Monitor and verify on hand inventory. • Review KPI Score Card with Customer Supply Chain Manager • Submit documentation of completed loads to customer. • Maintain Alene standards of performance and comply with housekeeping, safety policies and procedures. • Ensures that Logistics department is organized and aligned to meet daily goals and metrics. • Participate in company-wide and department specific process improvement projects. • Maintain all 5S defined areas in good working order. • Other duties as assigned. Education required: • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) Range of Experience: • 2-4 years’ experience in a logistics environment • Strong knowledge of databases with substantive transactional experience • Proficiency with MS-Excel, MS-Word, MS-Outlook, and Pivot Tables • Strong work ethic, ability to work autonomously. • Demonstrated ability to work well in collaborative environments. • Knowledge of inventory concepts, practices, and procedures. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Skills: • Detail oriented, ability to problem solve, and follow through. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure. • Experience with seasonal business a plus • Inventory Control experience • Good Problem-Solving Skills • IFS and SAP experience Initiative Use of some judgment to comply with instructions, prescribed routines, methods /and or practices or to respond to changes in priorities.
