Job Description

The Good and the Beautiful is looking for a qualified, motivated individual to help develop stories and authors as we grow our bookshop. JOB OBJECTIVES Review fiction manuscripts, scripts, and story content to ensure compelling storytelling, strong structure, engaging pacing, character arcs, and high-quality writing.

Provide thoughtful editorial feedback to writers, helping them strengthen plot, character development, dialogue, emotional impact, and overall story effectiveness while maintaining the organization's voice and values.

Collaborate with writers, editors, and creative leadership throughout the revision process to help bring each project to its highest potential. Work closely with the Director of Bookshop and other creative leaders on special projects, new initiatives, and the development of fiction content.

Review manuscripts, scripts, outlines, and other story content for narrative structure, pacing, characterization, dialogue, theme, consistency, and readability. Provide clear, constructive, and actionable feedback that helps writers improve their work while encouraging creativity and growth.

Evaluate stories for audience engagement, educational and literary quality, and alignment with company standards and mission. Collaborate with writers through multiple rounds of revisions, offering guidance and support throughout the creative process. Ensure continuity, consistency, and accuracy across story elements.

Manage multiple editorial projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
