Job Description
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join a large NSW Government department on a short-term contract of approximately six weeks .
This role will suit a commercially minded finance professional with strong budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and stakeholder management experience who can quickly add value in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering financial analysis, reporting and insights to support decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver financial analysis and reporting to support business performance and strategic decision-making.
• Prepare and review management reports, forecasts and budget submissions.
• Provide insightful commentary on financial results, trends, risks and opportunities.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including stakeholder engagement across the business.
• Develop financial models and business cases to support initiatives and projects.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to provide financial advice and commercial insights.
• Assist with financial governance, controls and process improvement initiatives.
• Support reporting requirements for NSW Treasury and other key stakeholders.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
• Significant experience in financial analysis, FP&A, management reporting or finance business partnering.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling capabilities.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large and complex data sets.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Experience performing detailed balance sheet and cashflow analysis.Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
• CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
Experience within government or large, complex organisations will be highly regarded but is not essential.
