About the role
We are a Leading Perth based Software House and Enterprise Level Solutions Consultancy who are seeking both talented Graduate and Junior to Mid-level Java Developers to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis in Perth, WA. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career developers to launch your professional journey in a supportive and collaborative environment. You will work alongside experienced developers, solution architects and technical leads, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop your skills in a dynamic technology setting. This role offers the ideal platform to transform your theoretical knowledge into practical, real-world experience whilst building a strong foundation in software development.
Key responsibilities
•
Develop, test, and maintain Java applications under the guidance of senior developers
•
Write clean, efficient and well-documented code following established coding standards and best practices
•
Participate in code reviews and actively seek feedback to continuously improve your programming skills
•
Collaborate with team members to design and implement software solutions
•
Assist in debugging and troubleshooting issues within existing applications
•
Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
•
Support the full software development lifecycle from design through to deployment
•
Learn and adapt to new technologies and development methodologies as required
•
Participate in all phases of product development lifecycle, including the analysis, design, test, integration within an Agile methodology environment
What we're looking for
•
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent professional qualification
•
Strong foundational knowledge of Java programming and object-oriented principles
•
Familiarity with software development concepts including version control systems (such as Git), databases and API integration
•
Excellent problem-solving abilities and logical thinking skills
•
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
•
Keen attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality code
•
A proactive attitude towards learning and professional development
•
Desirable: Experience with software development tools, frameworks or methodologies relevant to Java development
•
Desirable: Knowledge of SQL and relational databases
•
Desirable: Exposure to Agile development practices
Nice to have experience, but not essential:
•
previous experience with Java and Spring Boot
•
A solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices and event-driven architecture
•
Experience with messaging/streaming tools like Kafka or similar
•
Working knowledge of AWS
•
Some exposure to CI/CD and tooling such as Docker, Jenkins or Ansible
•
Exposure to web application development
•
Knowledge of cloud technologies or SaaS platforms
•
Experience with version control systems such as Git
•
Any Angular / TypeScript frontend skills (version 12 or above)
