Job Description
The Company
Our client is a family-owned Australian company that offers premium design-focused home and architectural hardware products. With a legacy spanning nearly four decades, they have become one of Australia's leading players in their industry.
Their unique multi-brand portfolio caters to both stylish consumers and trade clients, and their reach now extends across Australasia, North America, and Europe. Despite a global footprint and approximately 100 staff, the company maintains an innovative, close-knit culture. New ideas are encouraged in this flat organisational structure, and long-tenured team members reflect a work environment built on trust and collaboration.
The business prides itself on craftsmanship, quality design, and sustainability, guided by core values of respect, responsibility, adaptability, and passion.
If you're excited by the idea of leading brand strategy for a growth-oriented, design-led company with strong values, this could be the perfect fit.
The Role
As General Manager of Marketing, you will lead the marketing function across the company's full brand portfolio; including a luxury consumer brand and several trade-focused brands across every region the business trades in.
Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will own brand strategy, generate demand across distributor, trade and consumer audiences, and deliver the commercial outcomes marketing is accountable for.
This is a brand leadership role, not a purely commercial or purely creative one. The business already has strong commercial capability; what it needs is someone who can build, protect, and articulate its brands to market - with the seniority to operate as part of the leadership group and the hands-on capability to execute in a lean, SME-scale team.
Key responsibilities include:
•
Brand Strategy & Architecture: Set brand positioning, architecture, and the portfolio roadmap across all brands, establishing category leadership and owning major brand decisions.
•
Integrated Marketing Planning: Translate commercial direction into channel selection, audience targeting, and marketing investment that delivers growth across wholesale, trade and direct-to-consumer models.
•
Team Leadership: Lead a small senior team — including a Head of Trade Marketing, a Head of Brand Marketing, and a Senior Graphic Designer — setting KPIs, building capability, and arbitrating priorities across the portfolio.
•
Launches & Major Projects: Set the go-to-market strategy for new product launches across the brand portfolio, including flagship launches for the company's premium brand.
•
Budget Ownership: Own the marketing budget end-to-end, including planning, allocation, quarterly reforecasting, and Board-level reporting on performance.
•
PR, Awards & Events: Set PR strategy across all brands, approve brand communications, and oversee the awards and events calendar.
•
International Growth: Partner with the CCO to deliver the marketing dimension of the company's international expansion, supporting entry into new markets.
•
AI-Enabled Marketing: Evaluate, pilot, and scale AI tools across the marketing function to drive efficiency in content, copy, and repeatable execution. You'll have genuine influence at the leadership table — this role interfaces directly with the CEOs, who retain visibility and interest in its success given its importance to the business.
About You
You are a commercially-minded, brand-led marketing leader who can operate strategically while staying genuinely hands-on. You've built your career leading marketing across more than one brand and know how to prioritise, sequence, and resource across competing brand demands.
Ideally, you will have:
•
Multi-Brand Leadership Experience: Proven experience leading marketing across multi-brand portfolios in creative, design-led or premium consumer categories — across both B2B and B2C audiences.
•
8+ Years' Marketing Experience: Including at least 4 years in a senior leadership role, with a track record of building and developing senior marketing teams.
•
Product Marketing Background: Experience marketing physical, consumer-facing products — lifestyle, fashion, interiors, or similar categories are all highly relevant.
•
Senior Stakeholder Management: A track record of reporting into an owner, CEO, or equivalent senior leader, and the confidence to hold your own in high-visibility, senior environments.
•
A Hands-On Mindset: You're comfortable operating in a lean, SME-scale structure — this role requires someone willing to roll up their sleeves, not just direct from a distance.
•
Genuine Enthusiasm for AI: You're an active, curious adopter of AI tools in your marketing practice, not a sceptic.
•
Commercial Fluency: Strong fluency with marketing data and reporting, and the ability to connect brand activity to commercial outcomes.
•
A Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, or a related discipline. Experience marketing into international markets is highly regarded but not essential.
Location
This role requires a genuine, ongoing presence in the Adelaide office given the level of executive interface involved - candidates must be based in or willing to spend some time in the Adelaide office. RELOCATIONS WELCOMED!!!!
What's on Offer
This is a rare opportunity to take true ownership of brand strategy for a multi-brand portfolio, with direct access to and backing from company ownership. You'll join a business that is investing seriously in its next chapter of growth — domestically and internationally — and looking for the right leader to help shape it.
•
Genuine Seniority & Influence: Step into a brand leadership role with direct exposure to the CEOs and CCO, and real ownership over brand direction.
•
Collaborative Culture: Work with a passionate, values-driven team in a flat structure where your work is visible and your impact is felt quickly.
•
Growth Opportunity: Join a business with clear ambitions to scale significantly over the next 3–5 years, with your fingerprints on how it gets there.
Ready to take the reins on a multi-brand portfolio and build something you can truly call your own? Apply now — we'd love to hear from you!
