Family Practitioners, Cowichan Urgent and Primary Care Centre (Cowichan PCN) (200-1640)

The Cowichan PCN is looking for Family Practitioners to join the new UPCC in Cowichan. Work alongside other Family Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Mental Health workers and Medical Office Assistants in a highly collaborative and supportive clinic environment to deliver comprehensive care to patients across the lifespan, from newborns to seniors, with a focus on building lasting relationships.
Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health conditions for patients of all ages, including preventive care, health screenings, vaccinations, and minor procedures.
• Oversee the management of long-term health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma and cardiovascular disease.
• Provide care for women’s health needs (e.g., Pap smears, contraception) and offer mental health support (e.g., anxiety, depression).
• Offer both in‑person and telehealth services; charting completed using Telus Med Access EMR.
• Provide pre-booked and same-day access appointments for clinic patients.

As soon as possible.
Contract & Remuneration
The APP contract comes with $75,000 overhead per FTE and is paid directly to Island Health. The physician is not expected to contribute extra overhead funding.
May be eligible for additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:
• Recruitment Incentive: up to $10,000 (pro‑rated based on FTE)
• Relocation: up to $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
• Flat fee: $6,508.80
• Fee Premium: 4.20%
• CME: $2,200/annum year 3-4 and $4,400/annum after 4 years in the community
Clinic Hours: 0800-2000; provider shifts are flexible with requirement to provide care with equitable distribution of scheduled shifts amongst primary care providers across days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
Qualifications
• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC.
