We are seeking an experienced Medical Writer/Editor to support high-visibility federal health communications initiatives. This role focuses on developing, editing, and maintaining evidence-based health content for public and professional audiences, translating complex scientific information into clear, accessible formats aligned with federal plain language and health literacy standards. Key Responsibilities Research, write, edit, and update health-related content for web and print formats Translate complex medical and scientific information into plain language Develop and edit fact sheets and educational materials based on scientific evidence Ensure alignment with federal plain language and accessibility guidelines Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders Perform quality control reviews for accuracy and consistency Support web content updates using content management systems (CMS) Apply web-writing best practices including SEO and scannability Support recurring content review cycles Develop meeting summaries and synthesis documents as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Master’s preferred) At least 3 years of experience writing and editing medical or scientific content Experience writing for public and/or professional audiences Strong understanding of plain language and health literacy principles Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills Ability to synthesize complex scientific material Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting federal health agencies Familiarity with biomedical or integrative health topics Experience developing content for multiple audience types Experience with CMS platforms Bilingual capabilities (e.g., Spanish) Experience working with multidisciplinary teams Working at ICF ICF is a global advisory and technology services provider, but we’re not your typical consultants.
