Marine Offshore Project Manager - Job Description & Requirements Job Description Leads marine/offshore tech + engineering projects from kickoff to delivery. Main goal: ensure vessels, rigs, or offshore systems are built/upgraded safely, on schedule, within budget, and meet DNV/ABS/MOM standards. Key Responsibilities: 1. Plan & Scope: Define project scope for shipbuilding, retrofits, conversions, or offshore rig upgrades. Prepare project schedules, budgets, WBS, and resource plans. 2. Execute: Coordinate naval architects, structural/welding teams, QA/QC, subcontractors, and yard operations. Run daily toolbox meetings + weekly progress reviews. 3. Compliance & Safety: Ensure work follows MOM, MPA, class rules DNV/ABS/LR. Enforce safety, LOTO, PTW, and environmental regulations. 4. Stakeholder Mgmt: Liaise between client, shipowner, class surveyors, vendors, and internal teams. Send status reports, S-curves, and claims. 5. Delivery: Oversee FAT, SAT, sea trials, handover, and warranty support. 6.Offshore projects marketing and handles the project at offshore subsea projects, ( may need to stay offshore until the project is complete) Core Requirements: 1. Experience: 5-8+ years in marine/offshore projects. Shipyard, FPSO, rig repair, or vessel conversion experience preferred. PMP/PRINCE2 is a plus. 2. Tech Knowledge: Understand ship drawings, welding standards, structural work, piping, electrical, and offshore equipment. No coding needed, but must read P&IDs + GA plans. 3. Tools: MS Project/Primavera P6, AutoCAD/Navisworks, SAP/Oracle for procurement, Jira for IT parts. Excel for cost control. 4. Skills: Strong negotiation with subcontractors, risk management for weather/delays, problem-solving on site. Must handle tight dockyard schedules. 5. Certifications/Education: Bachelor’s in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical, or related. GWO/BOSIET and safety certs are a plus.
