The Role Block is seeking a Senior Litigation Counsel to lead its most complex, high-profile litigation and regulatory enforcement matters. The ideal candidate combines strategic judgment with pragmatic business acumen and thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments. Responsibilities Lead strategy for significant litigation and regulatory enforcement matters from pre-litigation through resolution Advise senior leadership on legal risk, enforcement trends, and business impact affecting fintech, payments, and data use Manage and collaborate with outside counsel to drive efficient, quality outcomes Engage personally on critical aspects including legal strategy, discovery, and key filings Handle complex disputes spanning class actions, commercial litigation, privacy, and consumer protection Collaborate closely with Policy, Product, Regulatory, and Corporate Counsel teams on risk alignment Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Compliance, and Risk to proactively identify and mitigate issues Requirements J.D. and active bar membership 10+ years of litigation experience at a leading law firm, government agency, or in-house counsel Experience leading complex litigation and/or regulatory enforcement matters (securities litigation experience preferred) Expertise in class actions, commercial disputes, privacy, and/or financial regulatory enforcement Public company litigation experience including financial reporting and governance obligations Strong judgment translating legal risk into practical business guidance Exceptional collaboration and cross-functional teamwork abilities Excellent communication and stakeholder influe
