# ResumeKart > AI-powered career tools for job seekers: resume building and tailoring, ATS > scoring, cover letters, interview preparation, salary research, and a live > job board covering roles worldwide. ResumeKart is an award-winning, AI-driven technology platform that helps jobseekers across the entire career value chain. It was named AI Disruptor (Startups) at the Times of India AI Quotient Awards 2026. ResumeKart helps candidates turn a generic CV into a role-specific application. Resumes are checked against real job descriptions, scored for applicant-tracking compatibility, and exported clean. The job board and its city, role and salary pages are built on live listings, so the figures shown are current rather than survey estimates. ## Who this is for - **Students and new graduates** with little formal work history: the emphasis is on coursework, projects, internships and demonstrable skills rather than on years served. - **Career switchers** moving between industries or functions: the work is restating existing experience in the target field's vocabulary, so that a recruiter and a parser both recognise the match. - **Experienced professionals** applying to senior or specialised roles, where a resume is expected to lead with scope and outcomes rather than duties. - **International applicants** writing for a country whose conventions differ from their own — resume length, whether a photo or date of birth is expected, and which qualifications need an equivalence note. ## How applicant tracking systems read a resume Most applications are parsed by software before a person sees them. The parser is extracting fields, not judging quality. Five things decide whether it succeeds: 1. **File format.** A text-based PDF or a .docx parses reliably. A scanned image, or a resume whose text lives inside a graphic, does not — the parser reads an empty document. 2. **Layout.** A single-column order reads correctly. Multi-column layouts, text boxes, headers and footers are read out of sequence or skipped, so content placed there can be lost entirely. 3. **Section headings.** Conventional headings — Experience, Education, Skills — are matched to fields. Invented headings such as "Where I've Made an Impact" are not recognised, and the section beneath them may be discarded. 4. **Dates.** A consistent format with both start and end (Mar 2021 to Jun 2024) lets the parser compute tenure. Mixed or partial formats produce gaps that read as unemployment. 5. **Wording.** Parsers match the words actually used in the job description. A resume saying "people management" when the posting says "team leadership" is a match a human would make and a keyword filter will not. A resume that survives all five is not thereby a strong resume — it is merely one a human will now read. ### How long a resume should be - One page for students, new graduates, and anyone with under roughly five years of experience. - Two pages once there is enough relevant work that cutting it would remove evidence a hiring manager needs. - Longer only where the field expects it: academic CVs, medical and research roles, and some public-sector applications, where publications, grants and clinical experience are listed in full. Length follows from relevance. Adding a second page to look more senior, or compressing to one page by deleting achievements, both cost more than they gain. ## Core tools - [Resume Builder](https://www.resumekart.com/resume/editor-v6): build and tailor a resume with live preview and ATS feedback. - [ATS Score Checker](https://www.resumekart.com/ats-checker): score a resume against a specific job description. - [Resume Templates](https://www.resumekart.com/templates): ATS-safe templates, including role-specific variants. - [Cover Letter Generator](https://www.resumekart.com/cover-letter): role-targeted cover letters. - [LinkedIn Optimizer](https://www.resumekart.com/linkedin-optimizer): profile headline, summary and keyword review. - [Interview Preparation](https://www.resumekart.com/interview-preparation): role-specific practice questions. - [Salary Negotiation](https://www.resumekart.com/salary-negotiation): scripts and benchmarks for offer conversations. - [All tools](https://www.resumekart.com/tools) ## Job search - [Job Board](https://www.resumekart.com/jobs/board): search live openings by role, city, type and seniority. - [Global Job Market Report](https://www.resumekart.com/jobs/market-report): hiring volumes, salary distributions, in-demand skills and remote share, drawn from live listings. - [Jobs by city](https://www.resumekart.com/jobs/city/bangalore): per-city hiring, salary ranges and top employers.
